Rehman Malik Passed Away Due To COVID-19

 Rehman Malik, a senior member of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), died at age of 70.

Rehman Malik, a senior PPP leader, and former senator died on Wednesday in Islamabad from coronavirus-related complications, according to his spokesperson Riaz Ali Turi. He was 70 years old.


Abdul Rehman Malik (12 December 1951 – 23 February 2022) was a Pakistani politician and a Federal Investigation Agency officer who served as Interior Minister from March 25, 2008, to March 16, 2013.

Biography:

Malik was born in Sialkot, Punjab, Pakistan, on December 12, 1951. In 1973, he graduated from Karachi University with a BSc and an MSc in Statistics.  Malik received an honorary Ph.D. From Karachi University in 2011 in acknowledgment of his "extraordinary efforts in the country in the war on terror, particularly in returning peace to the inhabitants of Karachi. Professors at the institution have challenged the decision to award Rehman Malik a Ph.D., which has sparked controversy. The university's action was likewise criticized by the media. The Karachi University Teachers Society unanimously passed a motion urging that the Governor of Sindh and the Vice-Chancellor withdraw the honorary doctorate.

Interior Minister: (2008-2013)

Prime Minister Yousaf Gillani named Malik an "adviser on the interior, intelligence, and narcotics control. Prior to becoming a senator, he was promoted to Interior Minister in Prime Minister Gillani's cabinet on April 27, 2009.

Achievements:

Malik has written four books. "Modi's War Doctrine: Indian Anti-Pakistan Syndrome" is his first book, and it details Narendra Modi's RSS-influenced warmongering tactics that resulted in a major escalation of India-Pakistan hostilities. The book attracted little notice in Pakistan, but it received a lot of attention in India, where it was denounced on Indian television and social media.

Death:

Malik was diagnosed with COVID-19, which resulted in pulmonary problems. On February 1, 2022, he was admitted to Shifa Medical Hospital's intensive care unit for treatment and placed on a ventilator. Malik passed away on February 23, 2022, at the age of 70.
